Movie Night at the Museum!

The Monterey History & Art Association & MoM are pleased to announce an exciting new program: Movie Night at the Museum!

momThree Tuesdays a month, The Museum will host a movie in our wonderfully comfortable theater, followed by conversation and discussion moderated by local video artist Fred Nelson. The goal of this ongoing event is to increase media literacy by exposing audiences young and old to well-made, intelligent films that define exceptional craftsmanship and style.

Come be part of this fantastic new offering at the Museum! Coming up are:

Horror Series

October 1st, 2013: The Birds

In The Birds, Alfred Hitchcock slowly lays the groundwork for a snarky romantic comedy before turning the whole thing on its head by horrifically attacking it’s characters with common birds.

October 8th, 2013: Hour of the Wolf

Ingmar Bergman directs this bizarre and quite surreal film about marriage and relationships. Hour of the Wolf uniquely examines horror as a psychological and interpersonal phenomenon.

October 15th, 2013: Kuroneko

Kuroneko uses striking cinematography and excellent use of lighting to portray a decidedly feminist ghost story. After being brutally murdered by a wayward group of soldiers, two women take revenge by luring men into a similar fate.
