Kansas Food Policy Council Engagement & Capacity Building Workshop, August 15

Date: August 15, 2018

Time: 8:00 am

This past spring several of you participated in focus groups and shared your capacity-building needs with Kansas Alliance for Wellness. In response, we’ve been developing workshops to address those needs, including recent workshops for community-based research and strategic communications. In just a few weeks, we will be offering another workshop: Internal engagement and capacity-building strategies.

This workshop will introduce councils to group facilitation processes and strategies including participation prompts, decision-making tools, conflict types, and conflict management strategies as well as provide space to practice deep listening, documentation and synthesis, consensus building, process development, and more.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, August 15th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Salina Courtyard Marriot located at 3020 Riffel Drive. We encourage you to send several of your council members, but space is limited. For councils traveling 60 miles or more to the workshop, KAW will reimburse hotel stay expenses for the evening of August 14th, but no mileage reimbursements will be provided. KAW will also host a pre-workshop dinner at 6pm at Blue Skye Brewery for councils interested in networking and relaxing together. Please RSVP your council’s dinner reservation to Missty Lechner at Missty.Lechner@heart.org by August 13th. Expense reimbursement questions can also be directed to Missty.
